10 years ago our founder Ruth was creating content for numerous websites, but was fed up with only being a tiny cog in the wheel. She started Turtle and Heron Media and Marketing Ltd. Since then it has grown into a number of areas, digital and social media marketing, publishing, and more.
Why Turtle and Heron?
I kept a single tank of fish. One day I went to buy a second hand tank, and the seller asked me did I want the pair of turtles that were living in it, or she could throw them in the canal nearby. Horrified I took them home, and looked for a Facebook group to help learn about them. That was the start of my involvement in social media, which has lead to so many other things.
After my first time sailing around the world, the first thing I saw when I set foot on dry land was a grey heron. I used to race kayaks, and each time I won a grey heron would soar down the canal or river ahead of me. I wanted my business name to remind me that you have to take chances, even though they might now seem like it, and that you need to follow your instincts. For me that’s turtles, and herons.
